Keen to be more involved in the sets and extend myself beyond graphics, Joel and Robyn encouraged me into a different role for Season 2. I had the chance to lead design work on beautiful prop makes, and get stuck into key locations like the farmhouse in “Be Right Back”.

However, being a skeleton crew of four again, I also had to oversee and execute graphics. It was BUSY.

We began to visually build the Black Mirror “universe” in Season 2, with UKN being one of our first “easter eggs”… the first of many subtle reinventions of this identity.

Tech wise, “Be Right Back” saw a natural design progression from “The Entire History of You” in terms of phones, screens and user interface. The look and feel we developed in this episode, became a baseline, that we would lean into and build on, for series to come.
