Little did we know then, how seminal this piece of television - especially these first three episodes, would become.

My role was to build a graphic language for the show, and execute graphic elements physically on set. This could be a visual identity such as UKN, a vast wall covering, or one of hundreds of screens we shot in-camera. My work extended into what we produced graphically later, with Painting Practice, in post production.

Nearly all of our screens for Season 1 are in-camera. So I began, what became a career focus, in art directing huge amounts of graphic and screen content on set.

We had a TINY art department, of four. I will always marvel at what we achieved on this show, especially in the early Channel 4 days.
